He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with your God?
Micah6:8

                    The Ten Commandments as the
                                     Way of Christ
                                Dr. John Burgess

Sundays   January & February 9:30-10:40
                                Fellowship Hall

Jesus does not reject the Ten Commandments, but he does reinterpret them.  They are no longer just laws; rather, they are markers of the new life that he offers his followers.  This class will explore the meaning of each commandment for the church today.  How can the commandments deepen our baptismal identity?  How can they help us express the love and justice of Jesus?  Come ready for study and discussion.

Dr. John Burgess is professor of Systematic Theology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He has written about the Ten Commandments in his book, After Baptism: the Shape of the Christian Life.  John is married and has three daughters, the eldest of whom is currently a cadet at West Point.
