Sunday Mornings for our Children & Youth
9:30-10:40

The Safe Sanctuary policy is always in compliance.

Extended Session:  Childcare for children age five and younger during part or all of the 11:00 worship in room 101.

 

Pre-K-K: Starting with music (Joanne Bald, Harriette Apel & Rebecca Abbott) in room 103, our young students will stay in the same room for class with Lynn Mildner teaching.

1st & 2nd: These children will join the younger ones in room 103 for music, then move into room 102 for class with Elva Schwartzmiller and Jennifer Heidkamp assisting.


3rd & 4th:
Starting with Gathered Together (see *) in room 208 this class will then be taught by Lynne Wallis in  room 204.

5th & 6th: Starting with Gathered Together (see *) in room 208 this class will then be taught by co-teachers Jennifer Tancraitor and Jan Schroeder.

*Gathered Together: NEW for 3rd - 4th -5th & 6th  from 9:30-9:50 in room 208 a rotation between:

·         Mission-Nadine Eichenmiller will guide our children to understand how God is calling them to respond to others, using both discussion and practical application.

·         Power Words-Jan Schroeder will encourage our children to learn scripture, parts of creeds and hymns in a lively atmosphere.

·         Music-Jennifer Tancraitor will use the music of the curriculum to enhance learning for our children.

·         Prayer-Ellen Heriger will help our children to connect with God using a variety of prayer pathways; adding prayer cues to their prayer box as the year progresses.

·         Worship- Ellen Heriger will instruct our children on the components of our worship and integrate their participation.

 YOUTH:

                 Our Youth will begin the Sunday morning year using a course entitled “Get Acquainted with your Christian Faith.”  This will launch learning/reviewing the basics and help to shape the direction our youth both need and want to explore.  Teachers: Betsy Martinelli and Dawn Hicken.



 Opportunities for Adults

 

Sunday Splash!  New this year for families with young children (three & under). Parents, bring your youngest along to class with you and join other parents as you learn to identify the Holy Spirit working in your lives. Your babies and toddlers can play around you as the casual discussion unfolds.

Bible Focus:   In-depth Bible study on Hebrews , then onto John

Sundays 9:30                       Room 206: Sielke Caparelli, Arlene Crissman

 

Short Class:   A well-rounded year is planned: sometimes joining the Round Table Class, sometimes using Spirit of the Seasons curriculum, sometimes launching from DVDs and sometimes special speakers.

Sundays 9:30-10:10           Lounge:  Milly Hum, John Gottschall, Barbara Johnston

     

Faith & Life:   Lectionary based discussion; hands-on projects, spiritual friendships.

Sundays 9:30                       Chapel:  Marijane Eibs

 

Round Table:  One topic, one presenter each month; join this class for a month or all year.

TWOgether Pittsburgh is a federally funded five year marriage support initiative in the greater Pittsburgh area.


A variety of modules are offered at various faith-based organizations and schools.   Curriculum is developed and site coordinators are trained by TWOgether

Dec. 21 -  Birthday Party for Jesus
during Sunday School for Pre-K, K, 1 & 2 grade classes.  Each child is asked to bring a gift (for a child 3-10 years)  Please wrap it in BIRTHDAY paper and include a note indicating for boy or girl, the age best suited for and the name of the item.  These gifts will be used throughout the year at Sojourner House (a drug treatment house for mothers and their children).

December 28
“The Christmas Story 2008” a special look at the Annunciation and Nativity through the picture lens of 2008, presented through the pilgrimage photos of Wil forest.  9:00 AM in the Chapel. No regular Sunday School meets.

Today we are to seek reconciliation in a world beset by conflict.  Challenge yourself to come with an open heart to understand cultural perpsectives, then, explore pathways to answer God's call to be PEACEMAKERS. this promises to be an in-depth, multi media presentation led by paul moesinger that will encourage both critical thinking and Christian response.
